Myths About Copyright Explained  

Siggies (Tags) are the things you see people putting in the comment boxes on MySpace or within Groups like MSN Groups that have art and words on them like "Thanks for the Add" or "TGIF" or a person’s name. What many people don't know is that a lot of the artwork (pictures of fairies, women, etc.) are actually copyrighted material which means the artwork cannot be used in those tags without either a license to use them or permission from the artist to use them. Even when you have a license or permission you still have to put the proper copyright information on the tag so you are giving proper credit to the artist. Each artist has their own preference as to exactly what is included in the copyright information that is placed on the tag.

Don't be fooled into thinking that just because you see a tag on some MySpace, MSN, etc. oriented snag site that it is copyright free. More times than not that is NOT the case!
